INTRODUCTION OF SARAWAK - LAND OF THE HORNBILLS

Sarawak, also known as 'The Land of Hornbills' is situated northwest on the wild island of Borneo. Strong primeval forces and tribal traditions still resonates in every corner of Sarawak, from longhouses to the majestic highlands, from nostalgic city alley-ways to vibrant rivers that runs through the lavish splurge of rainforest canopies, it is a refuge for wildlife and home to 27 ethnic groups each with its own language and culture.

This third largest island in the world is seeped in old-world charm. Vast cave networks, limestone needles and stunning pinnacles of the Mulu National Park, the vast expanse of virgin rainforests in the Bako National Park, buildings dating back to the days of White Rajahs in a city of native allure and colonial charm, Kuching. Sarawak endowed with the world's richest and most diverse ecosystem.

Airport Pickup / Drop Off

Travel Itinerary:

Day 1 - Mulu/ Mulu National Park HQ/ Deer Cave/ Lang Cave

Meet upon arrival at Mulu airport and transfer to park accommodation for check in. In the afternoon enjoy a scenic 3 KM plank walk through primary rainforest to visit the Deer Cave and Lang Cave. Late afternoon, proceed to the Bat Observatory outside Deer Cave and observe the millions of bats coming out from the vast mouth of the Deer Cave which will be a memorable occurrence during fine weather. Return to accommodation and overnight.

Dinner

Day 2 - Mulu National Park/ Wind Cave/ Clearwater Cave/ Penan Settlement

Depart by a long boat going up river to Wind Cave via Penan settlement. Visit the settlement and observe the lifestyle of this tribe. Visit Wind Cave and explore the limestone formation of this unique eco system. Continue the journey by plank walk to Clearwater Cave where more interesting stone formation can be seen. Rajah Brooke butterflies can be seen hovering at the river and entrance of the caves. Picnic lunch at Clearwater summer huts. Return to accommodation and overnight.
